Pleistotseen on kronostratigraafiline üksus (ladestik) ning geokronoloogiline üksus (ajastik). Pleistotseen vastab ajavahemikule 2 588 000–11 500 miljonit aastat tagasi. Pleistotseen on kvaternaari ajastu vanem ajastik. Pleistotseenile eelneb pliotseen ning järgneb holotseen.
